the center for precision medicine at wake forest school of medicine was established to help foster collaborative interdisciplinary research into the causes of common human disorders, such as
our mission is to develop and support innovative, collaborative, multidisciplinary research programs to understand the transition of normal physiology to dysregulated disease processes at the molecular level. the detailed understanding of these changes will advance our ability to improve long-term health outcomes of our patients, and to develop novel innovative treatment and lifestyle modification strategies.
the center for precision medicine consists of three major components:
- a research emphasis focused on omics technologies (genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics, and others),
- a second applied research emphasis focused on biology and intervention that will help translate omics findings into clinically usable diagnostic and treatment decisions
- an education focus that will advance the understanding of the concepts and opportunities of precision medicine for researchers and clinicians.
the work at the center for precision medicine will help connect basic science with clinical practice across the entire wake forest school of medicine and its affiliated institutions.
